The Hani people are an ethnic group. They form one of the 56 nationalities officially recognized by China.


Shaxi is a historic market town in Jianchuan County. The two main ethnic groups of Shaxi are the Bai and Yi people.


The Bai or Baip are one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by China. They numbered 1,858,063 as of 2000.


Erhai lake is an important food source for the local people (Bais).
