SURGE SHANGHAI by Affordable Art China (AAC)

Friday night saw the launch and sneak peek preview party of The 2012 RedBull SURGE Shanghai Art Fair, but the official opening hours to the public are both Saturday and Sunday, October 20-21 at the River South Art Center (1247 Nan Suzhou Lu) from 10:00AM-8:00PM.

An event that started seven years ago in Beijing called Affordable Art Beijing, this is the first annual event by Affordable Art China Limited in Shanghai with the first SURGE Hong Kong event scheduled for May 2013. At this 2012 RedBull sponsored SURGE Shanghai event, they will be displaying about 400 works of art from artists and galleries in the local region along with a few artists from the States, Europe and Asia.

"Shanghai is a city that has witnessed a tremendous cultural growth in recent years with contemporary art being very much at the forefront of that growth. There are evermore galleries opening in the city that show excellent works from young and emerging artists, many of which, are represented here at SURGE Shanghai." - The AAC Team

Showcasing some inspiring and exciting new works, there are even some avant-garde artists who will be displaying "digital technology, computer generated imagery and sculptural wizardry".

Here are a few of the highlighted art pieces by the AAC/SURGE Shanghai Team:

"Showcasing contemporary artwork from around China, SURGE brings a diverse mix of oil paintings, limited edition prints, breathtaking photography and hand painted sculptures – with every artwork under RMB 30,000."

Whether you're a first-time buyer who's easing into the art world or an experienced buyer who knows what they want, the fair has something that will catch everyone's attention and hopefully inspire you to invest in a work of art that you can't take your eyes off.
