Expenditure
The advantage of religiously keying in every single expenditure and categorising them is that you will end up with a ton of data. How useful this data exactly is, is debatable. But since I already have collected this much data, I might as well share it.
I started out by exporting to an excel csv, and pivoting that to get this expenditure stack bar chart. Bar is negative because it's expenses and I didn't bother making ABS(x).
I was in India from Sep 15 to Oct 7. And in Pakistan from Oct 8 to date. But I decided to break by month for simplicity's sake, considering the last few days in India were relaxed.
Despite Sep being a shorter period, I spent more in Sep. Mainly due to transport. This can be attributed to taking 3rd class and 2nd class sleeper trains in India. I self-catered more in Oct, in Pakistan and also spent around the same on meals. Indian (Sep) sights entrance fees were considerably more expensive when compared to Pakistan (Oct).
I lump Internet cafe usage and other random stuff that do not fit in anywhere under Necessities. So I wonder how come I spent more in that category in Sep than in Oct, when I spent hours in the Hunza internet cafe.
Here are the same data, by month in pie format.
The monthly budget is 1.5k, so for these two months, I am well below. But this is expected to change once I hit Oman and the other Middle East countries in Nov. I need to watch my accommodation spending. And transport too, since there will be a lot of travelling. Despite staying put for almost a week in Northern Pakistan, transportation is the largest expenditure for Oct. This is expected to be higher in Nov since I will move and fly. A lot.
Will be back with Nov Data.
