The Hutong is bringing back raw foods chef and expert, Jennifer McClelland to host one of her most popular classes – "Chocolate Making in the Raw" for the next two Saturdays (August 18 & August 25).
Participants will be learning how to make raw chocolates with different flavors using recipes that are vegetarian friendly, lactose and gluten free.
For all you chocolate addicts out there, Jennifer is your new best friend and explains just how chocolate can be considered healthy.
The secret ingredient to healthy chocolate is to just consume it in its purest form: raw cacao aka raw chocolate. (available for purchase at the World Health Store)
"Chocolate not only boasts cancer-fighting antioxidants, it's also rich in magnesium, iron, zinc and chromium. Its natural oils help raise good cholesterol and lower bad cholesterol. However, the caveat is after these oils are processed under high temperatures of heat, they turn to trans fatty acids. Hence, think twice before grabbing that chocolate bar at the checkout stand as most chocolate is adulterated with "bad" fats, refined sugars and fillers. Instead, keep it raw." - Jennifer McClelland on raw cacao
