"Shop for a Cause & Enjoy drinks and arty characters with sunny dispositions in 798″
A one-day only pop-up boutique marketplace in the 798 art district, The Pop Shop 2012 will be featuring rack after rack of vintage, second-hand, and ready-for-a-new-home clothing for your rifling pleasure. Everything will be priced from RMB 10 – RMB 100.
All sales from this event will all be donated to two very worthwhile charity organizations – Renqiu Home for Disabled Orphans and "Granny Han" Pengcheng Special Education School.
To contribute to this Charity Pop Shop, you can do one or more of the following things:
-
Donate high-quality clothes and quality things that includes anything vintage or well-designed
-
Show up and SHOP! There's plenty of nice new things for super cheap.
-
Donate something to be sold in their silent auction, which will be a special part of the event for unique pieces.
-
Even if you don't have any clothes to donate, you can still contribute by donating alcohol or mixers for the bar, sell cupcakes, jewelry, services as a shoe cleaner, etc – but please remember all funds raised will go to our two charities.
-
Share this event with all those who appreciate vintage, second-hand clothing or basically "every fashion-fervent, people-loving, Beijing-based do-gooder that you know"
If you are able to sort through your closets in time, they would appreciate it if all donors could notify them of drop-offs in advance. If you want to bring clothing, please try to arrive between 10am and 12pm, or alternatively, you can also drop it off anytime during the week.
Drop-off will be held in two locations:
(1) in the Andingmen/Wudaoying/Lama Temple area. For this drop off point call Sophie (13522737005)
(2) in 798, at the UCCA red dinosaurs. Someone will meet you here and take the things off your hands. Please contact Sybella (18611157030) or Sophie (13522737005).
"Any clothing not sold will be recycled back into communities that need it, so nothing is wasted."
Even if you aren't interested in shopping, all are welcome to come and browse (always a good excuse to come and hang around in 798!). There will also be a silent auction, a bar with good drinks, and music throughout the day!
An event where everyone wins.
