Ocean Grounds Organic Coffee
Ocean Grounds Coffee is heaven on earth for coffee snobs.
It's not appropriate to call this place a cafe, but rather an artisanal coffee house where a cup of coffee is not only made with love, it's an intensively laborious process that's best described as "farm-to-cup" experience by placing a 25-kilogram Probat coffee roaster in its store to supply custom blends and simple-origin coffees.
Ocean Grounds Co-Founders Jim Lee and John Lewis are both from San Diego, California and were passionate about coffee to create a business inspired by coffee's connection to the natural world and the free spirit of Southern California.
"The goal remains to provide the Chinese market with an unsurpassed coffee experience focused on quality and handmade roasting and preparation. We're the guys raising the game in China on organic handmade coffee. Drink up."
Jim Lee and John Lewis, Co-founders of Ocean Grounds Coffee
Each cup of coffee is brewed from house-roasted organic beans that aren't ground until they're ready to be consumed (in a huge in-house coffee roaster), offering a seasonal rotation of beans from around the world that can not be found anywhere else in town. As you can guess, they also go the extra mile to offer Wonder Milk products and organic sweeteners (but they'd rather you drink their coffee black to appreciate the quality subtle distinguishing features of each coffee blend).
These guys are serious about their coffee and their attention to detail and commitment to the task of producing specialty hand crafted coffee is on another level that surpasses any other coffee house in China. If you can appreciate a really good cup of coffee (and are willing to pay the price as these coffees don't come cheap), then you've found the real deal when it comes to coffee.
Next Saturday, August 25, Ocean Grounds Coffee is hosting an event called "Ocean Grounds Sessions" to celebrate the arrival of their first direct trade coffee in Beijing. Coffee lovers will be treated to sample their Buenos Aires Tabion from El Salvador – an organic coffee exclusive to Asia and available only through Ocean Grounds.
Not only is LDS hooking you up with information about this invite-only event, you also have the opportunity to get hooked up with a few VIP Swag Bag which is bound to make any coffee lover's day.
LDS HOOK-UP
Thanks to Shagi Defoe & the OG Team, a few lucky LDS readers will get the chance to win a free "VIP swag bag" at their next "OG Sessions" event which will feature live feel good music, coffee cupping sessions and coffee cocktail sessions.
For your chance to win a FREE SWAG BAG to the Ocean Grounds Session event on Saturday, August 25, answer the following question in the comment section:
Ocean Grounds Coffee is dedicated to "the art of taste" where "cupping coffee is arduous labor of love". In other words, they have created the perfect environment for coffee snobs, those who won't settle for a Nescafe packet to-go and will truly appreciate a fresh, hand-crafted specialty coffee that goes that extra mile.
Can you give me an example of what makes you a coffee snob?
