For the month of December, one of Beijing's most revered international restaurants, Grill 79 of China World Summit Wing, will be serving a 4-course Christmas set lunch menu daily from 12PM-2PM.

A towering restaurant (on the 79th Floor of China World Summit Wing) with some of the most brag-worthy views, I actually might prefer dining here for lunch as the daylight provides for better views of Beijing's skyline (on a clear day).

I went a little snap-happy upon arrival, see below photos of the entrance lobby and dining space of Grill 79.

With the restaurant adorned in beautiful red hues, it makes a perfect setting for a Christmas-y meal.

Lucky for you Beijingers who are still around for the holidays, I recommend trying out their 4-course special lunch menu, available every day for RMB 388+15% service charge for the month of December.

"Chef de Cuisine, Ryan Dadufalza, displays his culinary prowess with a Christmas set lunch menu in the award-winning Grill 79 with seasonal specialities such as Potted Foie Gras with Candied Almond and Fig with Pistachio Toast and Roasted Turkey with Crunchy Stuffing, Sweet and Sour Cranberry Sauce, Celery Leaf and Orange Bread." - China World Summit Wing Press Release

Of the 4 courses, I was most impressed by the long and intricate preparation process required by their menu highlight – the Roast Turkey served in the third course.

Instead of just one hunk of turkey meat, the dish features 3 different parts of the turkey, each prepared in three different cooking methods. Chef Ryan Dadufalza explained that the different textures and tastes of different parts of the turkey requires different cooking processes for perfect preparation.

The turkey is separated into different pieces – one part is the turkey leg which is shredded into tender bits after the dark meat is braised for 3 days at 72 degrees and the sauce is made from the turkey bone. The second part – the turkey breast is brined with soy sauce and vinegar and stored in a plastic film to keep the meat juicy and soft and the third part is actually the cut of meat underneath the turkey breast which is also finished differently.  The turkey dish is served with orange bread and nutmeg providing classic Christmas flavors, but a very modern interpretation in the cooking method.

From the Foie Gras rope to the Christmas pudding, each of the 4 dishes on their Christmas menu has very traditional flavors that are both comforting and homey to give you a true holiday meal on one of Beijing's most prestigious dining establishments.

In addition the the indulgent Christmas menu, I also couldn't resist stealing a bite or two from a few other dish favorites off Grill 79′s winter lunch menu (RMB 180 for 2 courses or RMB 215 for 3 courses with 15% service charge tacked on to both set prices).
