Morton's Steakhouse is Coming to Beijing

One of the world's best steakhouses, Morton's of Chicago is the famous American steakhouse that is taking its hold of the China market.  With successful branches already in Hong Kong and Shanghai, they are now opening in Beijing this coming Saturday, November 17.

The iconic steakhouse brand will be located on the 2nd floor of The Regent Hotel in Wangfujing and they will be hosting a grand opening party from 7-10PM. In addition to a "strolling buffet, wine and cocktails", they will also be holding a silent auction with proceeds donated to benefit Teach for China, the leading non-profit organization cultivating the next generation of leaders to combat education inequality in China.  If you plan on going to their grand opening this Saturday, I wouldn't expect them to be passing out their signature scrumptious, big hunks of steak, but rather some dainty bite-sized canapes and fun cocktails.

Less interested in the opening party, I very much look forward to sitting down for a big foodie dinner and tasting their selection of grain-fed aged beef steaks, maybe even taking on the challenge of consuming a massive 48-ounce porterhouse and seeing how the new Beijing branch compares to Hong Kong and Shanghai (the only other branches I've been to).

And for all you wine geeks out there, let's hope Morton's of Chicago in Beijing keeps in the tradition of reserving personalized wine cabinets for their frequent returning customers (see photo below).

The world's largest operator of company-owned upscale steakhouses, Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. owns and operates 77 Morton's steakhouses located in 64 cities across 26 states, Puerto Rico and six international locations (Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Mexico City, Singapore and Toronto).
