The Liao Dynasty also known as the Khitan Empire was an empire in East Asia that ruled over Mongolia and portions of the Russian Far East and northern China proper from 907 to 1125. It was founded by the Khitan Great Khan Abaoji around the time of the collapse of the TangDynasty.
The Liao Empire was destroyed in 1125. However, remnants of its people, led by Yelü Dashi, established the Western Liao Dynasty, also known as the Kara-Khitan Khanate, which ruled over parts of Central Asia for almost a century before being conquered by Genghis Khan's Mongolian army. The influence of central Asian art style can be seen in this example. - Prayer

During the Shaman festival, the women performed first, carrying long khata scarves in their hands. Afterwards, the men came forward, dancing while beating drums. A few men climbed on to the roof of the entrance of the temple grounds and lit sang, or juniper branches, as an offering. Next, one man with a long braid emerged from the temple, shaking and spitting. As the oracle, he served as a medium for the mountain god. He emptied bottles of alcohol on the ground as an offering and other men stood around him, cheer him on, and clearing his way.
