Masskrugstemmen, the world's newest beer sport
An old Bavarian tradition that's the world's new favorite beer sport, "Masskrugstemmen" translates loosely to the lifting of a liter mug of beer. A game that started in Germany, has started up all across the US from Prost! West Seattle to New York's German-American Friendship Party in Central Park. The "Masskrug" is a 1 Liter Stein (weighing about 5 pounds) which is held with one arm completely stretched out and parallel to the floor. Whoever holds their arm out the longest is the contest winner.
I wonder: is this contest a test of strength or a test of will power? Is it more difficult to hold the glass up for a long period of time or holding the glass up for a long period of time while resisting the urge to drink what's inside the glass?

Slow Boat Brewery is bringing this German mug holding contest to their Taproom this Friday, January 11. Get those arm guns worked cause they're gunna burn like fire.
"Come test your strength on Friday night to see if you can be Beijing's first Masskrugstemmen Champion!! The much loved tradition of Masskrugstemmen is a German test of strength. Buy one beer to enter the contest, and the winner will get one giant mug of whichever Slow Boat beer he/she chooses and bragging rights until next month's competition. Thursday January 24th, 8pm
Test your beer tasting skills with a Beer tasting contest. Participants will be given five different samples to try, and whoever correctly identifies the most beers within a given time limit will be Slow Boat Beer Tasting Champion! 50 RMB entry fee which includes five 200mL samples. The winner receives a pitcher of Slow Boat beer and the moniker of Beer Champion of Dongcheng, Beijing.
