The Haircut Post

Hello readers. Here's a fun little post. I know I've been procrastinating my Petra posts (so many photos to sort!) so here is a haircut post.

I've had haircuts while travelling. Since the FB posts on haircuts are the ones that somehow get the most comments and Likes, I figure I'll compile all my haircut photos. (One TFP reader also mentioned he gets haircuts when overseas!)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Location: Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. A very distinct South Asian hairstyle, sides neatly trimmed, with a bob of hair making my big head even larger. Neck massage included free.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Location: Ohrid, Macedonia. Most recent one, I asked for an Alexander the Great haircut. Came out feeling like I could rule the world. though it could have been the refreshing hair-wash in the sink. Check out the nifty scissors-holder waistbelt hanging on the mirror..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Location: Suzhou, China. I walked into one of the alleys and the barber in a white coat proceeded to give me a surgically correct haircut. He snipped nostril hair and ear hair from the old timer before me. I volunteered not to have my nostrils and ear trimmed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Location: Bethlehem, Palestine. In a Christian Arab barber shop. I asked to have an Arab haircut like the locals. Ended up with a No.1 trim, with sideburns intact. When the hair grew a little, I looked surprisingly macho.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Location: Gilgit, Pakistan. We don't understand each other, but the barber was a real friendly guy. They offered tea, and the haircut ritual was followed by the strange act of applying lip gloss on my lips, just like this dude.

A second pic of the same barber shop, this time with his colleague and the new Pakistani film star wannabe.

Location: Hargeisa, Somaliland

The guy here was with me when he went for a haircut, because, everyone wants to say they have gotten a haircut in Somalia.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Location: Kassala, Sudan. The toy car in the middle of the barber's isn't the weirdest thing here. The barber uses the electric hair clipper on my fo! rehead ha! irline. Unfortunately, I don't have curls like the Sudanese, so running the clipper across my forehead serves completely no purpose.

That's it. There were some other places where there were almost-haircuts (like North Korea, the hotel barber wasn't around.) More haircuts to be added here in future.

p/s I know the "search" and "category" functions on the blog doesn't work currently. Please bear with it.
