By CNN Travel staff Scotland's annual Up Helly Aa festival took place this year on Tuesday, January 29. Paying tribute to the Shetland Islands' Viking heritage, the festival has been taking place since the 1880s. Highlights include spectacular torchlight evening processions and the burning of a replica Viking gallery ship.
