The Asia Pacific Exchange and Co-operation Foundation (APECF) is a Chinese-government-backed organisation, based in Hong Kong. It is controversially planning to invest US$3 billion in the small Nepalese town of Lumbini, birthplace of the Buddha, to create a 'Mecca' for Buddhists of all strands.[1]In June 2011, it was reported in the Chinese media to have signed an agreement with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization for the project, which will help Lumbini "transcend religion, ideology and race" in its work to rejuvenate the culture and spirit of Buddhism, according to executive vice chairman Xiao Wunan.[1][2]The investment is enormous, constituting almost 10 percent of Nepal's gross domestic product. However, neither the Nepalese government nor the local authorities were consulted about the project, they say.
The joint chairmen of APECF have varied backgrounds. They include Steven Clark Rockefeller Jr, a fifth-generation member of the Rockefeller family; Jack Rosen, chairman of the American Jewish Congress; Leon Charney, a real estate tycoon and former US presidential adviser; Prachanda, leader of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and former Prime Minister of Nepal; and Paras, the former Nepali crown prince whose father's monarchy was overthrown by Prachanda's forces. The executive vice-chairman of the foundation is Xiao Wunan. - Chinese New Year Parade 2013

Ai Weiwei installation at the Haus der Kunst in Munich.
Ai Weiwei's memorial to the earthquake that took place in the Chinese province of Sichuan in 2008. The installation consists of 9,000 backpacks in five different colours that make up the sentence "For seven years she lived happily on this earth" in Chinese lettering – a sentence with which a mother of one of the earthquake victims commemorated her daughter.

Breen's Photos has added a photo to the pool:
Xi'an zelf heeft ook wel moois te bieden. De Bell Tower bijvoorbeeld, prachtig verlicht midden op één van de drukste verkeerspleinen van de stad.

Tibetan reed shawm or oboe (Tib. rgya gling/ saying "gyaling" རྒྱ་གླིང༌). This shawm is made from a hardwood bore, such as teak or black rosewood. It is highly decorated with an eloborate, gilded copper, bel-shaped trumpet end, and a reed mouthpiece with a small resonator made of beaten metal. Its wooden bore has six or seven holes with an upper back-hole for the thumb, similar to the Western recorder. however, unlike the Western recorder or oboe, it is played with the hands reversed, the left hand fingering the lower notes and the right hand the upper.
The Tibetan oboe or gya gling derives from the north Indian shenai, which in turn is of Arabic origin. The gya gling has a variable pitched tuning, and is very difficult instrument to master. Like the long horns (dung chen) and the short horns (kang gling), the gya gling are always played in pairs.
