With Spring just around the corner (the season for activity, a time of stirring and loosening of stored energy after the cold of winter) and an emphasis of health on my mind, I'm happy to spread the word about a FREE health talk presented by TCM practitioner and educator, Alex Tan of Straight Bamboo TCM Clinic aka my Health Hero.

The first time I met Alex Tan was this time last year when I showed up for his free health talk and since then, it's had a powerful impact on my lifestyle. I've changed my eating and sleeping habits for the better and changed the way I think about one's overall state of health and well-being.

With a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Alex has been practicing for almost 10 years. He runs his own Straight Bamboo health clinic out of The Hutong Community Center and leads TCM health related courses that can positively affect your health for the rest of your life.

This coming weekend (Saturday, February 23), Alex will be presenting an invaluable session introducing how we can use both eastern and western ideas to improve our health and how to incorporate these into our daily lives in both a practical and useful way.

"Alex Tan explains the real keys to Chinese metaphysical ideas and how to use this as a platform to launch into a new paradigm of health taking you to the place where you have the vibrancy and energy to be who you want to be, to do what you want to do… To pursue your dreams!"The Hutong

Learn to "inhale"the best of Chinese medicine and culture

A fresh perspective on health in clear, straight-forward steps following Chinese medicine as it was meant to be used and taking a more proactive approach to taking care of your body and mental health.

"Treating disease after it has manifested is like digging a well after you are thirsty or forging weapons after the war has begun." -                        Yellow Emperor's internal classic 221BCE

Taking place next Saturday, February 23 at The Hutong Culture and Community Center, you can sign up for this free health talk here.

How is this class free you ask? Well, this is a lead in to non-obligatory a 5 session "Eat Sleep Breathe" Workshop in the following weeks (starting March 2).

"In this five-session 'Eat Sleep Breathe' workshop we aim to help you to lift the veil on some of the ideas and philosophy behind Asian health and lifestyle practices. The goal of this program is that you will acquire a basic understanding of the concepts of traditional Chinese health & longevity. The aim is to also to become proficient in an authentic set of ancient Qi Gong exercises, leaving you with the motivation and ability to include these positive rhythms into your daily life. "

Instead of just waiting to get sick and cure yourself with a quick-fix, Alex teaches you easy ways to incorporate healthy habits into your daily life for restoring and maintaining energy, being more efficient and feeling more positive.
