Shanghai Happenings - Swedish Instrumentalists Pg.Lost Bring Haunting Sound to Yugong Yishan

Contributed by: cityweekend

Post-rock band pg.lost produces music that's so wistfully beautiful that we're totally not surprised they hail from Sweden. Hear their melancholy magic this Friday at Yugong Yishan.

How do you pronounce your band's name, and where did it come from? You may pronounce it as you want but it is most common that people pronounce it as it is written pg.lost but you can also say page lost. The name comes from a long line of thoughts. It has a meaning for us and we usually keep it to ourselves and let people make up their own meaning.

What are some of your musical influences, either old or new? We listen to an awful lot of different music, everything from soft pop to death metal. I guess it all influences us. At the moment we listen quite to Swedish retro-rock band Graveyard and Bon Iver, Bombay Bicycle Club, Fucked Up and lots and lots more.

Did your first trip to China influence your music in any way? We are affected by everything around us when we write music, so yes, our first trip to China's been around and has influenced the new songs. For us it was a really great experience to travel around a country that is so much bigger than we are used to back home in little Sweden. It's very much to take in. We developed a lot as a band during the trip.

What new stuff have you got for us since you were here last? We will bring our new album Key and will play some songs from the album. We will also play some old songs that did not fit with the set list last time we were here. We hope the audience will like it.
