Sanlitun Village has a new addition and although I may be biased, you should be excited too.

Although there are already a couple hot dog spots in Sanlitun like Dogs on Fire and No More Bunz Hotdog, now we have the arrival of the Original Hot Dog KingNathan's Famous.

They are officially opening today, Sunday, July 1 in Sanlitun Village Megabox Theatre just next to the ticket box office.

For those who don't already know, Nathan's Famous was founded in Coney Island, New York in 1916, making it America's first chain quick service restaurant (QSR). From a little hot dog stand in Coney Island, Nathan's has grown into the #1 selling beef hot dog in the US having sold over 425,000,000 hot dogs in 2011.

Known for its 100% beef hot dogs, it is made with spices from a secret family recipe.

But Nathan's is so much more than just hot dogs. At its three other locations in Beijing, they offer everything from 5-ounce burgers, crinkle cut french fries, Arthur's Treachers seafood products and signature old fashioned lemonade.

But limited in size and space, the new branch at Sanlitun Village's Megabox Theatre will have a limited menu featuring 100% beef hot dogs (loaded with imported deli mustard) and cheese dogs using imported 100% Wisconsin cheese, alongside Nathan's Famous Lobster Salad Wraps with chunky imported lobster from the US and a selection of sides like their signature Old Fashioned Lemonade and servings of Nathan's cheese nachos.

Nathan's is introducing a couple of fun activities to build the momentum and get everyone as excited about their new branch opening as they are. Here is what's going on -

1. Kids Break it Down with Nathan's Hip Hop Classes:

Bound to be a blast for kids, it will also be an adorable show for parents to enjoy too.

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition:

Hot dog lovers and savage eaters: perk up and sign up for the Nathan's Famous  Hot Dog Eating Tournament.

Last year, Nathan's Famous was on a mission to find a China National Hot Dog Eating Champion aka the Yao Ming of Hot Dog Eating, and we flew three Chinese champs on an expense-paid trip to New York to compete on a stage with the world's most esteemed competitive eaters including Joey Chestnut, Hot Dog Eating Champion who holds the record for eating 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

Although it was awesome to host Joey Chestnut in Beijing, this competition is just for fun.  Anyone can sign up and although you're not competing for a trip to New York, you are still competing for some pretty awesome prizes.

Qualification rounds will run every Saturday for the month of July from 7PM-8PM. In groups of no more than 10 people at a time, contenders will compete to see how many Nathan's Famous hot dogs they can devour within 10 minutes.  A competition open to everyone, anyone can sign-up during the week with a sign-up fee of RMB 50.  Winners from the first three qualification rounds will be invited to a finale match on Saturday, July 28 where finalists compete for their chance to win a Duo Grand Prize: 6-months FREE Nathan's Hot Dog Voucher (limit one hot dog per day, up to 50 hot dogs) and 6 months Megabox Free Movie Pass.

Chinese English vs. Japanese English

Went down to China town today here in Kobe, Japan to buy some hot chili peppers. The store owner and his daughter were speaking Japanese to the Japanese customers and then they spoke English to me. Their English was really, really good. The spoke very natural English. They left me with a positive feeling whereas I usually have a negative feeling when Japanese people try to speak English with me.
