The Circumambulation or Kora of the sacred Lake Mapham Yutso (Manasarovar) is 88 km long and takes pilgrims three to four days on foot.
Tibetan family pilgrimage the circuit of Lake Manasarovar. The Tibetan names for this lake are Mapham Yutso and Tso Madropa, the later being a translation of a secondary Sanskrit name, Anavatapta.
The starting point for most Tibetans the circuit of Lake Manasarovar is at the township Hor at an altitude 4560 m. Hor is a haphazard collection of mud-walled houses and assorted compounds, located slightly inland from the northeast corner of the lake. there are a few small shops here, there are two small guesthouses and restaurants.
From Hor, the circuit are following to Seralung Gon, the so-called eastern gateway to the lake. From Seralung Gon the circuit follows the lakeshore to Trugo Gon (clockwise), a monastery at the southern gateway to the lake. Following on route to the rebuilt Gelukpa monastery of Gotsuk Gon, and frome there to Jiu Monastery (Chiyu Gonpa). The circuit is then completed by reaching the Hor township.
