Ancient Korean Jar with floral and leaf patterns grooved and filled with white slip in much the same way as celadon produced during 12th century during Koguryeo dynasty.
The glaze in raw amber color usually found on the Koguryeo honey jar.
There is no glaze at the bottom, The glaze color at its shoulder and up is black with faint amber tone to it.
Why the jar did not stand upright? Answer: Just to draw more attention to it. The item is intact.
The patterns look every bit Chinese. However the shape and workmanship were typical Koguryeo. This jar could have been specifically ordered as a gift for Chinese emperor, may be, during, say, late 12th century.
