On April 27, CCTV’s film crew went under the water of Qiandao Lake in East China’s Zhejiang province. They explored the ancient Lion City that was sunk half a century ago to build the Xin’an Jiang hydropower station.

In the morning, a reporter and two cameramen dived 27 meters down to the bottom of the lake. The team reached an archway near the north gate of the city. It is one of the largest structures in Lion City.

The archway was found completely preserved with sculptures and clearly engraved scripts. In the afternoon, an underwater robot camera carried on another mission to find the north gate of the city. The whole project will last about five days.
